Flavia Azevedo is a writer of children's books, born in 1984 in Belo Horizonte - Brazil. She lives and works between São Paulo and Belo Horizonte. With a specialization in Children's Literature from PUC-MG, she is the author of 'A Pequena Gilda no Museu' (2017) and 'Gaspar e o Rio' (2021), the latter of which was awarded the Highly Recommended Seal by FNLIJ in 2022 in the Children's category. Currently, her research is focused on topics in the fields of literature, Brazilian culture, and childhood education.

Gilda is very curious and has always been interested in art, which she only knew from books. On her birthday, her father promises to take her to the museum near their house, but they miss each other! Gilda embarks on this adventure alone and there she meets Mr. Manuel, a new friend who works at the Museum and is also passionate about Brazilian art. Guided by Mr. Manuel, Gilda learns more about art and all its diversity, movements, as well as great Brazilian artists, such as Lygia Clark, Hélio Oiticica, Tarsila do Amaral, and Arthur Bispo do Rosário.

Gaspar e o Rio.

Gaspar, the story’s main character, lives near a beautiful river, where he observes the world around him. One day, he decides to explore a different river and starts planning his journey. What will he discover? What changes will he experience during his trip and upon his return? This thoughtful and gentle story encourages us to think about the choices we make in life, reflect on the passage of time, and the natural cycles of life.
